Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is an optical sensing technique that has been used for decades to measure and test liquids, powders, solids, and gases with great success and accuracy. Because earlier NIR equipment was large and required a lot of power, it was expensive and not utilized in many industries.
Around one and half years ago, Flash Photonics teamed with Spectral Engines to help launch the game-changing NIRONETM Sensors. NIRONE Sensors are extremely powerful, compact, affordable, and low-powered Fabry-Perot MEMS spectral sensors. Previous NIR systems cost tens of thousands of dollars. Today, Spectral Engines’ NIRONE Sensors are available in development application kits for a fraction of the cost. In addition to being a fraction of the cost of older systems, they are now a fraction of the size. NIRONE Sensors have a volume of roughly a cubic inch and can be powered by a standard USB plug or battery. The optical interface options of the NIRONE Sensor unit (a direct reflection with their on-board light source or fiber optical coupling interface with an external source) makes the versatility and potential even more attractive.
With these new features, NIRONE Sensors can be utilized to make numerous critical measurements in manufacturing and in remote field-testing situations, which was previously not practical due to the earlier mentioned limitations. Critical data gathering is now possible in numerous industries such as agricultural, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, textile, petrochemical, environmental, and more.
I am extremely fascinated by the vast number of different applications that the NIRONE Spectral Sensors, Devices, and Scanner platform have been utilized for. The possibilities and opportunities that we are seeing for the NIRONE is almost endless.
We are exhibiting our NIRONE Sensors at SciX 2018, from October 21st to 26th in Atlanta, Georgia. Please visit our booth to hold one in your hands and learn how it can be useful in your next project. You can also contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss your envisioned application and let us help you make the NIR measurements you need.
