Spectral Engines’ CEO Jarkko Antila at BSH Start-up Kitchen at SLUSH 2019

BSH the driving force and the innovation leader in the home appliances industry with its consumer-centric concepts as well as with products and services and seeks cooperation with innovative startups and people with new ideas.

 

BSH Startup Kitchen is the Venture Client unit of BSH, Working with BSH Startup Kitchen is a startup’s initial step to succeed in the global, billion-dollar home appliances industry. Spectral Engines Oy from Helsinki, Finland was one of the first start-ups that were chosen by BSH to work with. Actually, the BSH Start-up Kitchen did not even exist at that time. BSH had evaluated Spectral Engines smart material sensing technology to be at the level to be incorporated into the Home Connect ecosystem. 

 

According to Jarkko Antila, CEO of Spectral Engines, “This was a huge acknowledgment to us as a start-up company and our team, even though we were not established in consumer electronics! This proves that our advanced sensor products can be used both in industrial as well as consumer products.”

 

The Bosch X-Spect was an innovation never seen before introduced at IFA 2017 and launched at Appliance & Electronics World Expo 2019.  Jarkko Antila continues: “Spectral Engine’s team, technology and capabilities convinced BSH and, subsequently, to choose Spectral Engines as a co-creation partner and supplier. This strengthened our capabilities from R&D to scalable production and supply to work with major players and brands.” 

 

Jarkko Antila states that “To be invited as a guest speaker at the BSH Start-up Kitchen event at SLUSH 2019 is an honor. “Slush is the largest start-up event in Europe with 25 000 visitors, 3 500 start-ups and 2 000 investors. The event was an excellent forum for us to highlight our capabilities as well as celebrate co-creation with BSH and to help them to connect and network with other Finnish start-ups and several Finnish investors,” says Jarkko Antila.
